Reef Building Supplement for Corallin Algae, Corals, Clams, & Other Marine Invertebrates

Overview

• Complete source of the elements and molecules directly used by corals, clams, and other reef-building invertebrates and organisms to create skeletal material and grow.
• Provides calcium, strontium, magnesium, and potassium in approximately the same ratios in which they occur in aragonite, the mineral that is primarily secreted by reef-building marine organisms under normal environmental conditions.
• Very strong source of carbonates, also involved in aragonite formation; twice the calcium relative to carbonates compared to natural aragonite.
• Formulated by a marine scientist.

Instructions and Guidelines

Basic: Dissolve 2 grams (~½ teaspoon) of product per 20 US-gallons of aquarium water in 8-fl. oz. of fresh water; stir immediately prior to use and add every other day to provide important elements to reef-building organisms. May also be added directly to an area of high water flow. When used in this fashion, 400 g treats up to 4,000 US-gallons (15,141.6 L). May temporarily cloud aquarium water after addition, therefore it is recommended that the product be dosed at night.
Advanced: Create a stock solution by dissolving 20 grams (~5 teaspoons) of Elemental in 8-fl. oz. of fresh water (preferably purified); each ml of stock sol’n will increase the calcium concentration (”[Ca2+]”) in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by 5.1 ppm, alkalinity by 0.213 dKH, strontium by 0.100 ppm, magnesium by 0.015 ppm, and potassium by 0.003 ppm. Stir stock sol’n vigorously immediately prior to addition. If initial [Ca2+] in aquarium is below 412 ppm, add stock sol’n at maximum rate of 10 ml per 20 US-gallons daily until desired [Ca2+] is attained, then dose daily or weekly as needed (see below). Maintain [Ca2+] within a range of +/-10 ppm. Once desired [Ca2+] has been acquired, measure aquarium's [Ca2+] at the same time each day over a one- to two-week period to determine the daily rate of calcium uptake (i.e. the decrease in calcium). To determine daily dosing rate (preferable to weekly dosing): estimate volume of water in entire aquarium system (US-gal.); divide the daily decrease in [Ca2+] by 5.1; multiply this number by volume of water in system to obtain daily ml of stock sol’n required to maintain stable [Ca2+].

Strontium Supplement for all Marine Fish & Reef Aquaria

By weight, CoraLazarus is comprised of ~61 - 62% carbonates, ~37 - 38% calcium, ~0.75 - 0.85% strontium, ~0.1% magnesium, and <0.01% potassium; these percentages may vary between samples. It is collected in a clean environment and does not originate in bivalve-dominated reefs, the aragonite from which tends to be high in phosphate relative to aragonite formed by non-bivalves, in general. There is little magnesium in natural aragonite, and as such it is imperative that magnesium supplementation be employed in reef aquaria utilizing a calcium reactor. Failure to maintain magnesium at a minimal concentration of 1,290 ppm may result in difficulty maintaining the desired calcium concentration in the aquarium. One solution is to employ Brightwell Aquatics NēoMag (~13% magnesium by weight) in conjunction with CoraLazarus. NēoMag may also be used in secondary chambers of calcium reactors to help eliminate free CO2 that has not reacted with CoraLazarus, thereby simultaneously reducing the propensity for pH to exist at a depressed level in the aquarium and increasing the rate of media dissolution, and hence magnesium supplementation.

原本以為500L的總水量使用BK DeLuxe 250已經是很強ㄌ
應該是無法吸附多少的有機物質
但是深讀Brightwell的資料之後才知道
原來可溶於水體的有機物質還是有強力蛋白無法Skim出來ㄉ
因此需要配合Organīt-R來吸附~

以下是小弟自己實際使用在自家的SPS缸的情況
因為初步小弟是存著實驗的心態去使用Organīt-R
因此沒有使用足量,但是小弟是RUN24Hr沒有關閉過濾
使用期間為2週的情況:

Brightwell Aquatics Lugol’s is an extremely powerful iodine solution. It should only be used by advanced reef aquarists to dose iodine as well as to create a dip for corals and their allies.

The importance of iodine in a reef aquarium cannot be overstated. Presence of iodine is vital to hermatypic invertebrates (i.e., corals, clams, and their allies that harbor zooxanthellae) because it is used to detoxify excess oxygen produced by zooxanthellae. This oxygen irritates sensitive tissue. Corals and clams that appear to shrivel or close under intense lighting are attempting to shade their zooxanthellae crop to reduce the rate of oxygen production. Iodine (as the iodide ion) essentially bonds with oxygen to form non-toxic iodate, relieving the need to shield zooxanthellae and enabling the host organism to open fully.

The predominant form of iodine in seawater is iodide. The natural seawater concentration of all iodine species combined is approximately 0.06 ppm, classifying it as a minor element. Even in this small concentration, iodine is required for survival of fishes, crustaceans, macroalgae and kelp, and hermatypic invertebrates alike. Iodine binds rapidly with latent organic material and is passively removed by aggressive protein skimming and the use of organic-adsorption products such as activated carbon and specialty resins. The combined biological and chemical depletion of iodine necessitate that its concentration be monitored and the aquarium supplemented as needed. The rate at which iodine is extracted from the water is determined by the stocking density of reef-building livestock, type of lighting, and other biological, physical, and chemical conditions. Once the rate of iodine uptake in the aquarium has been determined, the proper dosing rate of this product can be easily calculated.

Instructions and Guidelines

Determine the iodine concentration in the aquarium using an accurate test kit before supplementing. Each ml of Brightwell Aquatics Lugol’s will increase the concentration of iodine (“”) in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by 34 ppm, or approximately 1.7 ppm per drop. Add this product at the maximum dosage of 1 drop (1/20th ml) per 35 US-gallons daily to maintain a concentration of 0.05 ppm. Always try to maintain the within a range of +/-0.02 ppm. Determine the required daily dosing rate (recommended to weekly dosing) by measuring the aquarium's at the same time each day over a one- to two-week period. Estimate the volume of water in the entire aquarium system; divide the daily decrease in by 1.7; multiply this number by the volume of water in the system to get the daily dosage required (drops) to maintain a stable .

Technical Background


Experienced hobbyists are well aware of the delicate nature of the soft tissue that constitutes the living coral polyp, particularly in the case of stony corals. Inspection of a bare stony coral skeleton often reveals a very convoluted and sharp structure; when coral tissue is inadvertently pressed against such a structure, the resulting local tissue damage can create an entry way for infection and/or infestation by organisms that would otherwise be combated by the coral’s immune system. Physical damage to coral tissue is not an uncommon event during shipping and/or handling, and is an unavoidable result of fragmenting when the cutting site is not bare skeleton (again, in the case of a stony coral; cutting soft corals and polyps will always result in tissue damage). A colony or individual may also experience stress as a matter of changing chemical or physical conditions in the aquarium, often leading to weakening of the immune system, with the afore-mentioned infection/infestation as a possible result.

Instructions and Guidelines

To prepare solution, add 1.0 ml (~20 drops) of MediCoral per 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of seasoned aquarium saltwater in a clean plastic or glass container, then immerse coral completely as follows: Small-polyp Stony Corals: 7 - 10 minutes; Large-polyp Stony Corals: 6 - 9 minutes; Soft (“Leather”) Corals: 8 - 11 minutes; Colonial and Solitary Polyps: 5 - 8 minutes. Discard solution when finished, then rinse coral in clean aquarium water and place coral into aquarium system. Process may be repeated daily as desired/required. If coral shows signs of irritation from being immersed, remove from solution; subsequently, coral may be placed into solution for less time, or strength of solution may be diluted. Solution may be increased in strength if hobbyist feels that there is reason to do so; do not exceed 150% recommended strength of solution (e.g. 30 drops per 1 US-gallon of water). It is suggested that new coral acquisitions be temporarily located in such a manner that the tissue around their base (where the soft tissue gives way to the bare skeleton) may be visually inspected for the first 1 - 2 weeks of ownership; doing so will enable the tissue to be monitored for signs of degradation and/or undesirable organisms (e.g. “stowaways”) that may have escaped detection during initial inspection. Failing to inspect new coral additions for signs of tissue degradation and/or infection as they arrive from outside sources can have a disastrous impact on an entire reef system.

Instructions and Guidelines

pH is always lowest a few hours after the main lights have turned off for the evening, and is highest a few hours after lights have been burning during the day. Adjust pH to remain with a range of 8.1 - 8.5 at all times. Before adjusting pH, ensure that the alkalinity in the aquarium is within a range of 7 - 12 dKH (2.5 - 4.3 meq/L). Determine the pH in the aquarium using an accurate test kit or recently-calibrated pH meter before using Brightwell Aquatics pH+. If the alkalinity is below the desired level, adjust this first and then allow 24-hours to elapse before re-testing pH, then add pH+ as directed below. Add this product at the maximum dosage of 5 ml per 20 US-gallons per 24-hours at the same time each day. pH will generally stabilize within 2 hours following product use, however livestock should not be subjected to a change in pH of more than 0.2 per 24-hour period, so do not overdose pH+. Repeat as needed to attain desired pH value. It is recommended that pH be maintained within a range of +/-0.2 at all times.

Caution: Contains carbonate salts; harmful if swallowed. If swallowed: give water, get medical attention. May cause eye or skin irritation. If in eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes, get medical attention. If on skin, wash thoroughly with water. Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.

Overview

• Flocculant for improving water clarity in marine aquaria; helps eliminate cloudy water.
• Binds particulate material suspended in aquarium water, enabling removal from the system by means of mechanical filtration and protein skimming.
• Specifically formulated for use in marine aquaria; not to be used in freshwater aquaria.
• Safe for use with all manner of marine invertebrates, fishes, and macroalgae.

Recommended dosage is ~1-ml of Clarifī-SW per 10 US-gallons (37.9 L). Dilute up to 10-ml of Clarifī-SW per 8 fl-oz. or 250-ml of purified water and stir to disperse; gradually pour the resultant solution into the aquarium in an area of rapid water flow. Allow at least 12-hours for flocculation process to complete; re-apply in 24-hours if necessary. Maximum recommended usage is twice per 5 day period.

內管抽出所需求的高度約在85~90cm之間
根據以上的數據
那真的要4尺以上的缸子
底櫃淨高要高達90cm
那底櫃不就要高達100cm才能方便沸石桶的操作!
