X'mas Tree Coral is a delicate coral. It is meant to be leaving in the ocean, IMHO.
If you already got it, then you should do the best you can to keep it. According to the info I gathered, X'mas Tree Coral should be mounted side way in the crevices or rock cave where areas are shady with mild to mid flow.
Mount the coral preferably side way. Target feeding should be done regularly.
How you feed this coral?? You can do the following:
1) Stir the sand bed if you have one, you should do it when the light goes out or at least before the light shuts off. The draw back of this method is this will cause RTN if you have SPS coral. This method would also clog your pre-filter sponge so cleaning the filter more often if you can.
2) Phytoplankton, use a turkey blaster to feed the coral directly. The phytoplankton could be liquid form or freeze dried form.
HTH!
